NAIROBI, Kenya June 12 – DJ Brownskin, real names Michael Macharia, has been charged with aiding his wife to commit suicide.
This follows a video that went in which he was seen watching as his wife Sharon Njeri Mwangi drank poison. She later died.
The deceased was seen consuming poison in a video captured by Njiiri.
Court records show that the incident occurred on July 23, 2022 at the couple’s Kariobangi South home in Nairobi.
The DJ was arrested last week after a year-long investigation.
The prosecution accuses him of failing to prevent his wife from taking poison.
He was further charged with destroying evidence by removing the sim card on his phone which could be required as evidence in court proceedings.
The trial magistrate Lucas Onyina ordered that the accused be remanded for three days to await a pre-bail report from a probation officer.
He is due back in court on Wednesday.
