NAIROBI, KENYA, JAN 6 – The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission of Kenya (EACC) has urged parents to report any high school principals soliciting money for admission letters in schools.
Eric Ngumbi, the spokesperson for EACC the commission has received complaints from parents over corrupt principals at some prestigious schools to get admisison.
“We have received reports of principals demanding money ranging from ten thousand to one hundred and fifty thousand, depending on the school’s reputation and the level of greed exhibited by the principal. Some of these cases involve leading girls’ schools,” he revealed.
Ngumbi condemned the actions, describing them as unethical and unjust, especially for parents who are already grappling with the financial burden of their children’s education.
“We urge parents to promptly inform EACC about any principal or individual soliciting or accepting bribes to facilitate the issuance of Form One admission letters,” he stressed.
