NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 13 – Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has urged East African leaders to follow in the footsteps of Kenya and introduce visa free travel.
Speaking at the Amaan Complex Stadium in Zanzibar during the celebrations of the 60th Anniversary of the Zanzibar Revolution, Gachagua indicated that this will boost intra-Africa trade.
He further stated that it will increase accessibility of the markets thus enabling balance of trade among the nations.
“A Visa-free region is also an abler to the African Continental free trade Agreement which Kenya and the United Republic of Tanzania are partied to,” he said.
“Kenya will continue working with the United Republic Of Tanzania and our Sister Nations in the East Africa community and indeed, the continent towards the end.”
He said Kenya and the United Republic of Tanzania enjoyed cordial relations marked by lasting trade between the nations.
The deputy president has called for cooperation to execute the national and regional revolutionary frameworks that have been put in place.
He assured that Kenya will continue shuttering other trade barriers between the two countries to propel social and economic growth.
“We continue to demolish trade barriers towards seamless trade and other forms of interaction because we do not want to be defined by our boundaries, but the depth of the benefit of our brotherhood and our sisterhood,” he added.
