NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 30 — Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohamed Amin on Thursday attended a Rome convention marking the conclusion of a flagship initiative aimed at strengthening law enforcement cooperation between Africa and Europe in the fight against transnational organised crime.
The Final Conference of Project ITEPA2 in Rome, Italy, brought together senior law enforcement officials, policy experts and international partners.
Conference attendees reviewed the implementation and impact of Project ITEPA2, highlight key milestones achieved, and explore sustainable frameworks for continued cross-border collaboration.
Project ITEPA2 focuses on combating transnational organised crime — including migrant smuggling and human trafficking — through enhanced information-sharing, capacity building and coordinated operational responses between African and European law enforcement agencies.
“The forum serves as a critical platform for sharing best practices, strengthening operational linkages and reinforcing strategic partnerships aimed at disrupting organised criminal networks and enhancing regional and international security,” the DCI said.
Amin, who also serves on the African Interpol Executive Committee, was accompanied by Samuel Laboso, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Unit; Marco Azarone, the Italian Security Adviser to Kenya; and Some Nkai, Personal Assistant to the DCI Director.
Participants underscored the importance of sustaining the gains made under ITEPA2 and reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration in addressing evolving transnational crime threats across borders.
