Shioso appointed Kenya Coast Guard Director General

NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 12 – Former police spokesperson Bruno Shioso has been appointed as Kenya Coast Guard Director General in appointments announced by Head of Public Service Koskei.

Shioso last year took over as the Commandant of the National Police Service (NPS) College, Kiganjo replacing Japheth Koome Nchebere.

“I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, appoints DOUGLAS KANJA KIROCHO
to be the Director-General of the Kenya Coast Guard Service, for a period of four (4) years, with effect from the 12th April, 2023” the gazette notice read.

He will be taking over Vincent Naisho who was appointed in 2018.

It is however interesting to note Shioso took the job as commandant NPS six months ago.

Shioso also holds a Masters of Science degree in Criminology (Police Leadership and Management) from Leicester University UK.

Also appointed today Douglas Kirocho is Deputy Inspector General(DIG) of Kenya Police Service after National Police Service Commission (NPSC) recommendation.
Kirocho will be taking over from Edward Mbugua who retired as the DIG of the Kenya Police Service.

“Deputy Inspector-General of the Kenya Police Service, with effect from the 12th April, 2023,” the gazette notice read.

Kirocho was the commandant, General Service Unit (GSU) from 2018 to date.
