Nyaribari Chache MP encourages youth and women to go for UDA grassroots leadership positions

Jhanda challenged them to seize the opportunities within the party and be counted in driving community development and economic empowerment.

KISII, Kenya, Feb 23 – Nyaribari Chache Member of Parliament Zaheer Jhanda has intensified calls for youth and women from the constituency to actively participate in the upcoming United Democratic Alliance (UDA) grassroots leadership positions as the party strengthens its structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in Kiogoro, Bobaracho ward during a grassroots forum where he engaged the youth and women, Jhanda challenged them to seize the opportunities within the party and be counted in driving community development and economic empowerment.

“This is your time to come out and register and take the leadership positions within the party structures,” said Jhanda.

He said leadership positions within the party provides a platform for them to influence decision-making and champion for local developments in the region.

“Grassroots mobilization is not about politics but it will ensure you participate in shaping policies that address economic development and social welfare programs for our people,” the MP emphasized.

Further he noted, increased participation of women and young people will strengthen representation at the local level while promoting accountability and transparency in leadership.

Nominated senator Esther Okenyuri said involvement in party structures would help amplify issues affecting women, including economic inclusion, education opportunities, and protection from gender-based violence.

“Leadership experience is gained at the local level to prepare you for higher national responsibilities,” said Okenyuri.

UDA continues to roll out grassroots mobilization activities across counties aimed at expanding membership and empowering communities to actively take part in governance and political processes.
