NAIROBI, Kenya Jul 9 – Reverend Canon Evans Omollo has been installed as the 14th Provost of All Saints Cathedral, Nairobi.
Anglican Church of Kenya Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit, presided over the ceremony on Sunday.
“I Evans Omollo, being newly instituted, inducted, and appointed, do hereby solemnly and sincerely make the following declarations that I believe and shall teach and maintain the faith, doctrine, and discipline of our Lord Jesus Christ as delivered by him to the church as acknowledge and set forth by the Anglican Church of Kenya so help me God through Jesus Christ our Lord,” he said as he took the Oath of Assertion.
The incoming provost was ordained in August 2004 and has served in various cathedrals before was called to head the Directorate of Mission at the ACK Head office, a role he played from 2011 to 2016.
Rev. Canon Omolo takes over from Reverend Sammy Wainaina, who is moving to the global Anglican Church headquarters in the United Kingdom as an advisor.
During his tenure at the All Saints, Wainaina had carved a name for himself as a fearless church leader who spoke truth to power.
