Kisii Court to issue verdict on Baby Sagini tormentors

KISII, Kenya Jan 18 – A Kisii Court is on Wednesday scheduled to give directions on the hearing of Baby Sagini’s case among them if the court will release the three accused persons on bond or not.

Three-year-old Baby Sagini’s eyes were gouged out on December 13, 2022, when an unknown man picked him up from his home compound.

His body was later found dumped in a grass plantation without his eyes.

Maina Ochogo, Pacifica Nyakerario, and Rael Nyakerario — cousin, grandmother, and mother to the victim respectively — are said to have colluded in the cruel plot that saw Sagini’s eyes gouged out after he was picked outside his grandmother’s house.

“It’s unfortunate, Baby Sagini will never have his eyesight back under the sun due to the damage that was caused, it seems like a sharp object was used to remove the eyes,” said Dr.Kiage an Eye specialist who attended to Baby Sagini at the Kisii Eye Hospital.

The accused persons were denied bond terms pending trial due to the magnitude of the case which had attracted public interest and also for their own safety.

The suspects have been locked up at Kisii’s main prisons
