EPRA to announce new fuel prices

NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 14 – The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) is set to release new fuel prices on Wednesday.

The announcement will come even as Super Petrol continue retailing at Sh207.36 in Nairobi with the price of Diesel being Sh196.47.

The cost of Kerosine which has also gone down by Sh4.82 will be Sh194.23.

According to EPRA Director General Daniel Kiptoo, “The prices are inclusive of the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023.”

He had stated that the price of Diesel has been cross-subsidised with that of Super Petrol and that Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) will be compensated from the under recovery of costs from the Petroleum Development Levy (PDL) fund.

President William Ruto and EPRA boss Daniel Kiptoo had stated that the drop if fuel prices will continue this year.

In December last year, EPRA slashed the pump prices by up to Sh5 per litre, the biggest drop since October 2021.

A litre of Super Petrol retailed at Sh212.36 while that of Diesel is at Sh201.47
