A description of the new technology has already appeared in the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) database. In the document “Additional devices interacting with electronic devices”, there is information that wireless charging, thanks to special sensors, can independently analyze which gadget it is connected to and exchange data with it. In addition, the accessory can independently reduce the ability to work in case of overheating of the iPhone.
Also, this patent describes the possibility of detecting accessories. The mechanism is designed so that if smart charging detects the presence of a case on a smartphone, it will automatically reduce or increase power – it depends on the type of accessory.
In addition, the device also has a “magnetic field vector authentication” function. This feature allows the charger to detect all connected devices. Due to this, the charger can only work with the accessory’s owner’s smartphone. That is, theoretically, the MagSafe system can be used as a key.
New technologies improve on the MagSafe wireless charging standard that was introduced by Apple in 2020. MagSafe currently offers wireless charging for compatible smartphones up to 15 watts.
