NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 17 – Public Service Cabinet Secretary Mosses Kuria has called on all leaders to support Opposition leader Raila Odinga’s bid for top African Union (AU) Commission job.
CS Kuria drummed up support for Odinga saying this will be a win for the whole country if Odinga becomes the next Chairperson of African Union Commission after exit of the current chair Moussa Faki Mahamat
“We do not have any problems with anyone as a matter of fact I support my good friend Raila Odinga and I pray that he gets the AU chairperson Job,” said Kuria.
He stated that if Odinga’s bid to get the AU Commission job becomes successful Kenya will greatly benefit as a Nation.
“Odinga is a Kenyan and if he gets the job he will be our pride and Kenya will greatly benefit as a nation in the African continent,” he said.
On Thursday Odinga expressed his interest in the influential position of African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson and has started lobbying other African leaders to support his candidature as he prepares to formally submit his application for the role.
“I am prepared to take on this challenge and offer myself for service. I have requested my friend, former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo, to continue advocating for my candidacy and engage with other leaders,” Odinga stated after a meeting with the former president in Nairobi.
Kuria Spoke while delivering his remarks at the burial ceremony of the former Inspector General of Police King’ori Mwangi at Tetu Constituency Nyeri County where he assured that the nation is heading on the right path of economic transformation.
He stated that through Kenya Kwanza government interventions the Kenyan Shilling has started to appreciate against its American Counterpart, a move targeted at strengthening the tough economy.
“Our economy is getting back on track in just a span of one week. Our Kenyan Shilling has started adding value against the US Dollar,” he stated.
