Police term Waki report unfair

, NAIROBI, October 17 – There is discontent within the ranks of the police department over the indictment that was handed down this week by the Commission of Inquiry into Post Election violence.

Sources within the police force say the report is being viewed as grossly unfair and an affront to the character of the Commissioner Major General Hussein Ali.

“Waki failed to recognize that the post election conflict was caused by a political dispute over the outcome of the elections. This was a political conflict not a problem by Police,” the source who did not want to be named said.

He added that there was a general feeling within Vigilance House that instead of addressing the root cause of the conflict in accordance with the terms of reference, the commission led by Justice Philip Waki chose to blame the Police.
