Cecily Mbarire appointed UDA chairperson as Malala takes SG slot

NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 27 – Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire has been named as the interim Chairperson of the ruling United Democratic Alliance.

She takes over from former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama who resigned to serve as a member of the Parliamentary Commission.

The Party’s Spokesman Wanjohi Githae confirmed to Capital FM News that former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has been appointed as the interim Secretary-General.

He takes over from Nominated Senator Veronica Maina.

Malala was recently shortlisted for the position of Chief Administrative Secretary and was set to be interviewed by the Public Service Commission.

The party is expected to commence a month-long membership registration drive on Wednesday to April 30, 2023 ahead of its grassroots and party leadership elections.
