NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 18 – The Kenya Roads Board (KRB) has appointed Judith Otsyula as its new Director General.
Otsyula becomes the first woman to hold the position in the road subsector, marking a historic milestone for gender inclusivity in Kenya’s transport sector.
Otsyula is a seasoned transport professional with over two decades of senior leadership experience in infrastructure development, strategic programme management, and institutional governance.
She has a proven record of delivering transformative infrastructure initiatives and strengthening public sector institutions to advance sustainable national development.
The Board expressed full confidence in her leadership, noting that under her stewardship, KRB is expected to continue enhancing institutional performance, strengthen sustainable road financing, and advance road development and maintenance across the country.
“KRB is confident that Mrs. Otsyula’s leadership and strategic vision will further the Board’s mandate and drive sustainable road financing and development,” said KRB Chairperson Hon. Aisha Jumwa Katana.
The Kenya Roads Board, established under the KRB Act No. 7 of 1999, oversees Kenya’s road network and coordinates maintenance, rehabilitation, and development projects funded through the KRB Fund.
The Board also advises the Minister for Transport on all matters relating to the country’s roads.
Currently, KRB is implementing the fuel levy securitization programme aimed at unlocking sustainable financing for road development, rehabilitation, and maintenance.
