Fact Check | Letter on purported resignation of Eldas MP a forgery

The letter which first surfaced on Abukar Noor’s page, a popular community blog with about 600,000 followers, claimed the lawmaker was unable to keep up with the surging clashes, a task that required “more energy, agility and movement.”

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 8 – A widely-circulated letter alleging the resignation of Eldas lawmaker Adan Keynan over purported inter-clan clashes in the constituency is fake.

The letter which first surfaced on Abukar Noor’s page, a popular community blog with about 600,000 followers, claimed the lawmaker was unable to keep up with the surging clashes, a task that required “more energy, agility and movement.”

Responding to the statement shared by Noor on January 7, 2023, Keynan termed its contents fake and the claims made therein unfounded.

He called out Noor for purveying deceit on social media.

In the response via the lawmaker’s verified twitter account, Keynan vowed to bring the matter to the attention of investigative agencies for appropriate action.

The letter in question is therefore fake and misleading.
