Nairobi, Kenya, Feb 8 – The Ministry of ICT has partnered with Greydale Africa, Amazon Web Service and Computer Revolution Africa (CRA) to roll out Digital Transformation Public Sector Forum and Awards (DTPS).
The ministry says the event is set to take place annually with the inaugural activity slotted for February 22 in Mombasa.
The event endeavors to celebrate innovation and achievements in government digitization as well as laying the basis for current and future developments in government.
This will be undertaken in partnership with the private sector and is keen on recognizing the government’s achievements as the public sector strives for bolstered digital efficiency.
State Department for ICT and the Digital Economy Principal Secretary John Tanui revealed that the platform will also be used to train civil servants in digital transformation as the government onboards the country on its digital transformation agenda.
“The digital transformation of the public sector is not just about adopting new technologies; it’s about fundamentally changing the way we serve our citizens. This forum will provide a platform for leaders to learn from each other’s experiences and drive meaningful change,” he said.
This year’s event will celebrate government achievements in the digital array including 1,450 digital hubs in every ward,25,000 free public Wi-Fi hotspots in market and public transport bus stages, adding 100,000 kilometers of fiber optic cables to the existing 300,000 kilometers as well as lowering internet costs.
