Communication Authority (CA) adopts Smart Access for its Staff Medical Scheme Management

NAIROBI, Kenya Sep 9 – The Communications Authority of Kenya and Smart Applications International Group have recently commissioned the use of the Biometric Smart Access Technology that will see CA staff use Virtual Medical Cards at designated local hospitals.

The CA Director General, Ezra Chiloba, noted that adoption of Smart Biometric Smart Access Technology signifies a big step towards modernizing and optimizing healthcare access for its workforce, aligning with broader e-health Initiatives being undertaken by the Government of Kenya. The technology will support CA’s Human Resources function to elevate employee experience and enable real-time reports of the Scheme’s Performance.

The solution, which is hinged on the use of a Member Virtual Card on the Smart Access App or a user dialing USSD Code *891#,  is an inclusive technology that takes into consideration smartphone and feature phone users.  It also takes into account the high penetration of mobile phones in Kenya, which according to CA stands at 124.5%.

We are impressed by the Government’s commitment to scale up e-health and as a company, we shall continue to develop solutions that are patient-centered.  The Smart Access App Platform has taken care of painstaking issues of family design and how to remotely start their hospital visit, multiple medical covers, and not limited to, searching for your nearest health provider based on medical service of interest, ”Smart Applications International Group Managing Director,  Mr. Harrison Muiru, added.

The Government of Kenya has been keen on driving digitilization across different sectors of our economy which provides an avenue for Public-Private Sector mutual value offering will in turn serves as a catalyst for change. Thus, Smart Applications International is collaboratively working with government entities in driving and championing digitization across 11 markets in Africa and the Islands.
