NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 20 – The 7th Africa Air Cargo and Freight Logistics Conference 2025 began today in Nairobi, bringing together over 2,000 global stakeholders to discuss transport solutions and the future of Africa’s air cargo industry.
Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) Board Chairman Caleb Kositany said the event is crucial for the sector’s growth, enhancing regional trade and positioning Africa as a logistics hub.
He highlighted KAA’s plans to establish Sea-Air Terminals at Moi International Airport in Mombasa to facilitate faster cargo movement to landlocked countries.
Kenya’s efforts to improve road and trade infrastructure, including the Lamu Port-South Sudan-Ethiopia Transport (LAPSSET) Corridor, were also discussed as key to boosting intra-African trade.
Kenya Airways CEO Allan Kilavuka emphasized that air cargo is vital for economic growth, linking farmers and businesses to global markets.
He called for increased investment in technology and innovation to improve efficiency and reliability in cargo transport.
The conference will run for three days, addressing challenges and opportunities in Africa’s air cargo and logistics sector.
