Morocco airports receive over 12.3 mln passengers during Jan.-May

RABAT, June 20 (Xinhua) — Morocco’s airports recorded a commercial traffic volume of 12,353,496 passengers in the first five months of 2024, witnessing a 19-percent increase year-on-year, the Moroccan Airports Authority (ONDA) said on Wednesday.

According to the ONDA, international traffic grew by 19 percent to 11.1 million passengers, while domestic traffic rose by 18 percent to 1.2 million passengers.

The rise in international traffic was boosted by the creation of several new international air routes connecting Morocco and some foreign airports, most of which are in Western Europe countries.

According to the ONDA, cargo traffic totaled 39,655 tons in the first five months of 2024, up 27 percent year-on-year.
