Chadian convicted of fraud for possessing USD900mn in fake currency detained

NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 15 – A Chadian charged with defrauding various people money and who was found guilty will remain in prison until 22/11/2023 when the probation officer will present the presentencing report.

The accused Abdalla Kouro was acquitted on account of receiving Sh76 million from Tanariver Senator Danson Mungatana after the trial court found that the prosecution did not adduce sufficient evidence to support the charge.

The amount Mungatana gave was in respect of oil investment.

The accused was found guilty of being in possession of 900 million fake US dollars and having received Sh700 000 from Makau Muteke by pretending that he was in a position to assist him start business.

Trial Magistrate Ben Mark Ikubi directed that the presentencing report is crucial and the same must be produced to enable the court make an inform decision while passing sentence against the accused.
