Bolt integrates flight tracking to enhance airport ride scheduling

Nairobi, Kenya, May 13 – Ride-hailing platform Bolt has unveiled a new flight tracking feature aimed at streamlining airport pickups by automatically adjusting scheduled rides based on flight delays or cancellations.

The feature, available under the platform’s ‘Scheduled Rides’ option, allows users to sync their ride bookings with real-time flight information.

Once a customer taps the ‘Schedule’ button in the app, they can input flight details including the landing date, flight number, airline, or departure city.

Bolt will then monitor the flight and update the pick-up time accordingly — or cancel the ride at no cost if the flight is called off.

“With Flight Tracking for Scheduled Rides, our private and Bolt Business customers can now sync their flight details when scheduling a ride to pick them up from the airport,” said Dimmy Kanyankole, Bolt’s General Manager for Kenya and Tanzania.

“If their flight is delayed or cancelled, we’ll automatically adjust their scheduled ride’s pick-up time or cancel the trip at no extra cost.”

Airport rides are among the most frequented routes on Bolt’s platform globally. In response, the company has invested in improving the airport experience both digitally and on the ground.

Enhancements include in-app photo guides to direct users to pick-up points, improved airport signage to help riders spot Bolt vehicles, and the introduction of pick-up codes at select airports such as Ghana’s Kotoka International.

Bolt says the new flight integration tool is designed for both individual and corporate users, with the latter expected to benefit from greater predictability in airport logistics. The feature is currently being rolled out in phases and will expand based on regional demand and airport collaboration.
