NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 24 – Sustainable construction firm On-Site Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) is transforming Kenya’s housing sector with innovative, cost-effective building technologies.
The company’s flagship products, ICF blocks made from polyethylene-based materials, replace traditional bricks to lower construction costs.
Additionally, fiberglass rebar substitutes steel, enhancing building quality and resilience while reducing expenses.
“Our goal is to redefine affordable housing as resilient, cost-effective, and value-engineered structures suitable for both low- and high-rise buildings,” CEO Steve Ross stated.
Regional Director for East Africa, Kennedy Munyendo, emphasized the company’s commitment to offering clients value for their investments, noting its capacity for construction, design, production, and financing.
In 2024, On-Site ICF completed 60 housing units and aims to scale production to 200 units monthly in 2025.
The company’s ‘Nyumba Bora’ initiative provides affordable, rent-to-own housing options for community-based organizations (CBOs) and small savings groups lacking access to mortgages. Clients can move in immediately and pay for their homes over three to five years.
Houses range from Sh250,000 for single units to Sh2.3 million for three-bedroom homes, aligning with the firm’s mission to address Kenya’s 200,000 annual housing deficit while supporting low-income earners.
