China Square expands retail business with new Two Rivers outlet

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 10 – Chinese retail chain China Square has opened a new outlet at Two Rivers Mall as it expands its presence locally.

The new store adds to China Square’s growing network of outlets, which already includes locations in Kenyatta University’s Unicity Mall, The Waterfront, Karen Mall, Lang’ata Hyper Mall, and two outside Nairobi: Nyali Bazaar Mall in Mombasa and Kisumu’s Mega City Mall.

Two Rivers’ unit spans 7,500 square feet, accounting for 10 percent of the mall’s total floor space.

Managing Director Lei Cheng said that the new location is informed by the mall’s accessible location and high foot traffic.

“We see a lot of potential in this mall due to its location, which provides easy access,” he said.

He added that the company’s expansion is part of a broader strategy to establish China Square as a dominant player in Kenya’s retail landscape.

Cheng also revealed that the company has plans for further growth, including the upcoming launch of a new outlet at Greenspan Mall in Donholm, Nairobi, scheduled for January 13.

Likewise, the retailer also announced plans to expand its portfolio to other cities in the country.

Centum CEO James Mworia stated that the entry of China Square into Two Rivers Mall has boosted the occupancy rate to over 95 percent, signaling a thriving retail environment.

“This will catalyze the entry of more line shops, thereby increasing the mall’s traffic and popularity,” he said.
