NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 17 – Schneider Electric has launched Phase Two of its Conserve My Planet programme in Machakos County, targeting more students with environmental education and climate action skills.
The second phase kicked off at Kinanie High School, bringing 723 new students into the initiative.
The programme now includes the UN-Habitat PAAPAM initiative, which promotes safe walking and cycling. The addition links mobility, sustainability and urban living.
Country President East Africa Ifeanyi Odoh said the programme aims to equip young people with skills to drive climate action.
Phase One reached 2,907 students at St. Augustine Secondary School.
The programme is implemented locally by the Theresia & Fidelis Foundation. It trains students on energy efficiency, renewable energy and waste management through practical activities.
Founder Terri Nthanga said the expanded curriculum will help students understand and apply sustainability in their daily lives.
The initiative is expected to reach about 3,500 students in Machakos over two years.
