CA expands KUZA Awards to include more ICT sector categories

NAIROBI, Kenya, April 17 – NAIROBI, Kenya, April 17 – The Communication Authority of Kenya (CA) has announced an expanded KUZA Awards, including additional ICT sector categories.

The 2024 Award, themed ‘Innovation for a Sustainable Digital Future’, was announced by CA’s Director General (DG) David Mugonyi.

Mugonyi affirmed that the awards are pivotal channels for powering the digital and creative economies under the government’s Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

“This a challenge to the ICT sector to own its leading role in the social and economic transformation of Kenya,” Mugonyi said.

“This expansion broadens the scope of the Awards to recognize excellence across the various regulated services in the ICT sector.”

The 2024 Kuza ICT Awards will have nine award categories, including the Broadcasting Award, People’s Choice Award, Telecommunications Award, Green ICT Award, and Cyber Security Excellence Award.

Others are the Child Online Protection and Safety Award, the Women in Tech Award, the Postal and Courier Award, and the Lifetime Achievement Award.

“About seven years ago, the Authority initiated the Kuza Broadcasting Awards, to recognize excellence in this sub  sector. The Awards shall now be called The Kuza ICT Awards,” added the DG.

The Authority stated that the voting process for the various categories will be open to the public from April 22 to May 22, 2024, where the final winners will be revealed later after a thorough verification process by the judges.

It was also noted that ICT Week 2024 will take place from June 5 to June 6, 2024, with the Kuza ICT Awards slated for June 7, 2024.

CA initially ushered in the Kuza Broadcasting Awards in efforts to recognize excellence in the ICT sector.
