NAIROBI, Kenya, March 12 – Mohamed Abdul M’maka has been named Commissioner for the Investigations and Enforcement Department by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), with effect from March 11.
The KRA Board approved the appointment after a competitive hiring process with the goal of bolstering the fight against financial crimes, tax evasion, and illegal trade.
M’maka has worked in intelligence, security, and investigations for more than 21 years.
In addition to his previous positions as Chief Manager for Intelligence Coordination and Operations and Chief Manager for Intelligence Exchange, he has been KRA’s Chief Manager for Intelligence Collection since August 2025.
He served as a Senior Intelligence Officer and Investigator at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission and held security and intelligence positions at Kenya Power and Kenya Airways prior to joining KRA.
The appointee, who holds a master’s degree in national security and strategy from National Defence University-Kenya, was also a troop commander and field intelligence manager in the Kenya Defence Forces.
M’maka will be in charge of investigations and enforcement actions aimed at tax fraud, smuggling, and other types of revenue leakage.
