Truecaller introduces a voice call feature

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun 25 – Truecaller has announced the launch of its voice call feature, globally. The in-app voice over internet protocol-based feature will allow users to make free high quality, low latency and quick to connect audio calls through WiFi or mobile data connectivity.

The launch is the newest addition to the recent stream of updates, that is aimed to provide a full-fledged communication experience to Truecaller’s over 140 million daily active users globally.

The feature has already been rolled out in a phased manner to all Android users.

The Truecaller Voice shortcut has been strategically integrated at relevant touch points in the app such as call logs, SMS Inbox, contact profile and after call screen.

This enables users to seamlessly access the VOIP based call anywhere within the Truecaller app without switching to other applications.

With this, Truecaller currently offers a one-stop integrated communication platform that hosts a range of key features including Caller ID, Intelligent dialer, Smart SMS inbox, Mobile Payments (only available in India) and Flash messaging.

Truecaller has become one of the fastest growing consumer apps in Africa and has consistently been topping the App Store Charts across the continent for the past two years.

The company also revealed that it has more than 6 million users in Kenya alone, where the user base has grown with over 35 percent over the past year.

The Truecaller app is blocking and filtering out more than 4.4 million calls, and 14 million spam SMS on a monthly basis in the country.
