Naked Pizza serves its last meal, Pizza Hut to take over operations

NAIROBI, Kenya, 23 May – Naked Pizza has announced it has closed its outlets after three and a half years of serving up ‘all-natural’ pizzas to Nairobi residents through their Westlands and Mombasa Road outlets.

Reliable sources have told Capital Business that international franchise Pizza Hut will be taking over the operations of Naked Pizza. The American chain will rebrand the two outlets, absorb the over 40 staff in Naked Pizza’s payroll, food truck and 25 delivery bikes.

Feast Limited, the Pizza Hut franchise holder in Kenya, had earlier in the year indicated it was planning to invest Sh500 million in the Kenyan market in the next two years. Feast Director Chris Joseph told Capital Business that the firm had plans to open another four Pizza Hut restaurants in Nairobi before the end of 2016. This is in additional to the two Pizza Hut outlets at Westgate and College House, CBD.

Pizza Hut operates more than 15,000 restaurants in 97 countries around the world.

The brand recently began its push into sub-Saharan Africa with franchise partners and currently serves customers in South Africa, Zambia, Mozambique and Angola.

Naked Pizza was established by the passionate Ritesh Doshi after he acquired the franchise license in East Africa. The former globe-trotting investment banker came back to Kenya and started the pizza outlet from the ground-up partly out of his love for pizza, partly to transform pizza delivery.
