Matt Morris asks Kirubi

I met Matt Morris a week ago and halfway through our meeting he decided to #AskKirubi a few questions. It was rather surprising but I welcomed the questions all the same.

Matt Morris has been a serial entrepreneur for 20 years generating about $100 million. He was raised by a single mother, who he credits as his biggest inspiration, who worked two to three jobs to finish college and law school. In Matt’s early childhood, his father went to prison for murder, then became a severe alcoholic and ended up committing suicide when Matt was thirteen.

Matt had a rough start but this did not stop him from wanting to excel and make his life better. He now travels the world telling his story, mentoring and inspiring people as well as actively building a sales organization for the largest direct selling travel company in the world, World Ventures. Just like me, his work is his life. He takes pride in what he does and doesn’t term work as an obligation but rather an adventure.

Many of you may brand me as a workaholic but work is my pass time. Over the years, I have learnt that my work helps me relax and stresses me at the same time. It makes me a better man because I get to challenge myself every day.

While many of us eagerly wait for the weekend, some of us don’t because it means I cannot hold meetings with my employees. Sometimes, I will attend various events but even then, I am working or looking for new partnerships and business opportunities.

For us, it’s business as usual 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. However, we have learnt to find the balance. I know we cannot be the same but I encourage you to find your niche and enjoy the pleasures of working on it. Your passion will never disappoint you but push you forward to achieving more. I hope you enjoy our series with Matt Morris.
