NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 10 – Laptrust Chief Executive Officer Hosea Kili has been elected the new chairman of East and Central Africa Social Security Association (ECASSA).

Kili takes over from Angelique Kantengwa of Rwanda’s Social Security Board.

Commenting on his appointment, Kili says he will focus on innovation to create efficiency in service delivery adding that he would challenge each member state to share at least one innovation annually towards promoting social security.

“I envision the future of ECASSA as the incubator and clearing house for social protection innovations,” he said.

He also promised to address the issue of portability of social security benefits which refers to the ability of workers to maintain and transfer their social security rights when shifting from one private, occupational or public social security scheme to another.

If this is implemented, he added, workers will not lose their contributions in moving from one employer to another, one scheme to another, public sector to private sector and vice versa.

Kili says players in the social security sector in Africa need to focus on the under- served market.
