NAIROBI, Kenya Jan 30 – The Selection Panel for the recruitment of top positions at the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has invited qualified Kenyans to apply for the posts.
The panel in a notice announced vacancies for the position of Chairperson and seven members of the commission.
The vacancies arise following the expiry of the six-year, non-renewable term of the current commissioners on November 17, 2025.
The move follows the establishment of a six-member selection panel by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to oversee the recruitment process.
In a gazette notice dated November 4, 2025 Murkomen formally declared the impending vacancies and set the stage for the appointment of new leadership at the commission.
“Candidates applying for the chairperson position must hold a degree from a recognised university and have at least 10 years’ experience in areas such as ethnic relations, human rights, public affairs, peace and security,” read in part the advert notice
Applicants for the member positions are required to have a university degree and at least 10 years’ experience in similar fields.
All applicants must also meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on leadership and integrity.
“Individuals actively involved in political party affairs, those who have promoted ethnic hatred, or those previously removed from public office for misconduct are not eligible to apply,” the panel said.
Successful candidates will serve a single, non-renewable term of six years, with salaries and benefits set by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
The PSC encouraged applications from women, youth, persons with disabilities and members of marginalised groups in line with the principles of inclusivity and equality.
Applications must be submitted in hard copy to the Public Service Commission House in Nairobi on or before February 11, 2026, at 5pm.
NCIC plays a key role in promoting national unity, peaceful coexistence and addressing ethnic discrimination.
