NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 23 – Williamson Tea has appointed Angus Nyariki Omete as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective April 1, 2026.
Omete will take over from Alan Laurence Carmichael, who is set to retire on March 31, 2026 after serving in the role since 2008.
The incoming CEO currently serves as Group Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director, bringing over 26 years of experience in the tea industry.
He joined the company in November 1999 as a graduate trainee and has since held various senior roles, playing a key role in financial management, strategy, governance, and operations across the group.
Omete holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from Kenyatta University and is a member of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya and Institute of Certified Secretaries.
“The Board congratulates Angus on his appointment and is confident that he will steer the Group through its next phase of sustainable, value-driven growth,” the company said in a statement.
