Network International enters Kenya, eyes e-commerce payment expansion

NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 8 – Digital commerce enabler Network International has entered the Kenyan market with the launch of an in-person payment solution.

The company aims to revolutionize payment systems across the continent.

“We are introducing our point-of-sale (POS) solutions as part of our strategy to enter the in-person payments market in Kenya, a key hub for East Africa,” said its East Africa Acquiring Regional Managing Director Judy Waruiru.

Network International says that Kenya presents a ripe opportunity for growth in in-store payment solutions, with over 55,000 point-of-sale machines currently in use, which is significantly lower than the 7.4 million registered micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in the country, as per the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics.
Network’s approach includes offering cost-effective solutions, such as QR code payments, which aim to enhance card payment adoption and accessibility for merchants.

This initiative, it says, is expected to foster greater business opportunities and increased revenue for local businesses, ensuring that no customer is left behind in the payment process.

With cash transactions still prevalent in the Middle East and Africa, Network International anticipates significant growth in digital payments as the landscape shifts.
