Pepsi bottler to open Kenya manufacturing plant by 2027

In its financial statement, Varun Beverages said construction of the facility will begin in the first quarter of 2026. The new plant is projected to have a production capacity of between 12 and 15 million cases.

NAIROBI, Kenya – Varun Beverages, the largest bottler of PepsiCo products outside the United States, is set to establish a manufacturing plant in Kenya, with construction expected to be completed in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2027.

In its financial statement, Varun Beverages said construction of the facility will begin in the first quarter (Q1) of 2026. The new plant is projected to have a production capacity of between 12 and 15 million cases.

In November last year, the company announced plans to expand into Kenya through the establishment of a local subsidiary, VBL Industries (Kenya), which will oversee the manufacturing, distribution and sale of its beverage portfolio.

The lineup is expected to include global brands such as Pepsi, 7UP, Mirinda and Mountain Dew.

In 2023, President William Ruto met executives from PepsiCo in the United States to discuss the establishment of a manufacturing facility in Kenya as part of efforts to attract foreign direct investment and boost local production.
