YANGON, May 26 (Xinhua) — Myanmar is expected to earn 805 million U.S. dollars from aquatic exports this fiscal year, with fish and shrimp exports projected to increase, the state-run television channel MRTV reported on Sunday, citing Nyunt Win, director of the Department of Fisheries.

The country’s aquatic products are exported to over 40 countries, with China and Thailand being the main buyers.

In the fiscal year 2023-24, Myanmar earned over 720 million dollars from exporting more than 522,000 tons of aquatic products. Over 240,000 tons of these products were distributed via air and sea routes.

According to the MRTV report, aquatic products are categorized into three groups, fish, prawns and other aquatic products.

The fish group generated over 380 million dollars, the prawns group earned over 38 million dollars and other aquatic products brought in over 300 million dollars, the report said.
