TSC suspends 11,310 teacher remittances to the Metropolitan Sacco

NAIROBI, Kenya, April 15 – The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has halted the remittances of 11,310 teachers under the Metropolitan Sacco.

As of March 31, 2024, TSC noted in the letter that 2,401 tutors are still active members of the Sacco.

“The above captioned matter and the deliberations from the meeting between the Senate Standing Committee on Trade, Industrialization and Tourism and the Teachers Service Commission held on 26th March, 2024 refers,” TSC Chief Executive Nancy Macharia said in a letter sent to the Clerk of the Senate.

This comes even after the Metropolitan National Sacco Society is set to hold its annual general meeting for consideration and adoption of the annual reports and financial statements for the years ended December 31, 2022, and December 31, 2023.

According to Sacco secretary David Waweru, the 46th Annual General Meeting, which will be held at Kiambu High School Hall on April 24, 2024, starting at 9.00 am, will also consider the appointment of external auditors for the year ending December 31, 2024.

“Notice is hereby given that the 46TH Annual General Meeting of Metropolitan National Sacco Society Limited will be held at Kiambu high school hall, Kiambu, on Friday APRIL 26 2024 commencing at 9.00 am,” noted Waweru Sacco’s Secretary.

Other agenda items to be discussed during the meeting include consideration and adoption of the treasurer’s report as well as confirmation of the management and supervisory board members.

“Presentation of the operating budget for the year 2024 and year 2025 and the capital expenditure budget for the year 2024 will also be discussed during the meeting ,” added Waweru
