Naivas services restored after system hitch

NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 9 – Naivas has restored services at its branches after experiencing service disruptions yesterday and last week.

The system hitch impacted services as transactions could not be processed.

An employee at the retailer’s Kenyatta Avenue outlet who sought anonymity confirmed to Capital Business that indeed the outage happened last week as well as yesterday.

The disruption saw some branches closed for a brief period of time as the situation was being resolved.

Today, however, a spot-check showed that activities at the retailer were normal, with shoppers buying goods.

Naivas began as a small chain in 1990 and has since grown to become one of the country’s largest retailers.

It now has over 84 stores nationwide and employed 8,000 as of June last year.

In the year ended June 2021, it reported sales of Sh65.1 billion with a Sh2 billion profit.

In December 2022, it opened three new branches before Christmas, pushing its total stores to 91 countrywide.

They include Naivas Foodmarket Ojijo in Parklands (tomorrow), Naivas Nairobi West, and Naivas Express Uthiru.
