NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 12 – Gina Din Corporate Communications has been acquired by Edelman Global Communications at an undisclosed amount, even as the US-based company sets foot in Kenya.
In a statement, the firm said the new move will steer its expansion venture into Africa as it seeks to grow its presence through strategic communications programmes.
Ed Williams, President and CEO, Edelman EMEA said that the launch of the new office was informed by increased demands from clients in the continent for greater support.
“Our global specialisms and operating scale with powerful local talent and knowledge is a formidable combination. I believe together we can serve clients with world-class advice, consultancy and activation,” he said.
Din-Kariuki, founder of Gina Din Group said that based on the relationship forged with the global firm over years, it opted to use the power of collaboration to deliver top quality services that meet its clients’ needs.
“We’re excited for what the future holds for Edelman’s Kenya operation as we continue to grow our businesses on this continent, taking this relationship to the next level is a natural progression for us. The two family-run businesses merged in what the Edelman Africa CEO, Jordan Rittenberry said is an opportunity to leverage on Africa’s youngest growing middle class and highest rate of urbanization to create more opportunities and subsequently deepen its growth in the continent.
“Having partnered with them (Gina Din Corporations) for several years, this move enables our clients to have real impact in the region. With a deep network of partners and affiliates across the continent, we understand how important it is to have local market presence,” the African branch CEO said.
The new Nairobi office is expected to give the company a base of nearly 100 specialists across the continent; it will be led by Jordan Rittenberry who will oversee Edelman’s operations both in Kenya and South Africa.
Din-Kariuki, founder of Gina Din Group will also act as an advisor to the firm across Africa.
