NAIROBI, Kenya, May 10 –Women from across Nairobi gathered on Sunday for a sold-out inaugural edition of the Suhba Series, a women-centered forum blending conversations on faith, financial empowerment, wellness and modern womanhood during Mother’s Day celebrations.
Held at the Kingfisher Nest Hotel, the event brought together professionals, entrepreneurs, creatives and community leaders for an afternoon of dialogue focused on intentional living, ethical wealth-building and personal growth.
Organizers said the strong turnout highlighted a growing demand for curated spaces where women can openly engage on issues shaping their personal and professional journeys.
The Mother’s Day timing added emotional significance to the gathering, with participants reflecting on the evolving role of women as caregivers, professionals, business leaders and pillars of community development.
The panel featured chief guest Nimo Jirdeh, moderator Rukia Bulle, alongside speakers Dr. Fatuma Hirsi and Shabana Osman. Financial advisor Halima Tairara also led conversations around financial planning and Shariah-compliant investment approaches.
Speakers encouraged women to make informed financial decisions, pursue sustainable wealth creation and balance ambition with faith, family and personal values.
Beyond the discussions, the event adopted an intimate high-tea format complemented by curated networking sessions aimed at fostering honest conversations, mentorship and meaningful connections.
Many attendees described the experience as a refreshing alternative to traditional networking forums, praising the safe and intentional atmosphere created throughout the event.
According to Suhba Series founder Farida Idris, the platform was designed to create authentic spaces for deeper conversations among women navigating modern life.
“There is a shift happening — people are seeking spaces that feel more intentional, more honest, and more aligned with how they are actually living,” she said.
“Suhba was created to hold those conversations — not just at a surface level, but in a way that allows for reflection, clarity and real connection.”
The inaugural edition received support from Absa Bank Kenya, Gulf African Bank, Goodlife Pharmacy and other lifestyle and wellness brands, signaling increasing corporate interest in community-driven platforms targeting urban women.
Organizers say future editions of the Suhba Series will expand conversations around wellness, leadership, entrepreneurship and cultural identity as demand grows for experience-led engagements within Nairobi’s evolving social and professional landscape.
