Rao exits Crown Paints after 20 years, Turra named CEO

NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 2 – Crown Paints CEO Rakesh Rao has stepped down after two decades at the helm, with Mustafa Turra, formerly of Olam Agri Nigeria, taking over as Group CEO.

“The board is happy to welcome Turra to Crown Paints. His global outlook and proven expertise in leading transformational growth will be instrumental as we continue to strengthen our leadership in the paints and coatings industry,” Crown Paints Kenya Board of Directors announced.

The paint maker, which also operates in Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda, reported a Sh544 million profit after tax in 2024, reversing a Sh29 million loss the previous year.

Revenue rose 8 percent to Sh13.5 billion, supported by a 19 percent sales jump and a stronger shilling.
