DT Dobie to wind up business after CFAO acquisition

NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 15 – DT Dobie & Company (Kenya) is set to wind up operations after the High Court appointed Mark Gakuru as the official liquidator under the Insolvency Act, 2015.

The development follows the acquisition of DT Dobie’s business assets by CFAO Mobility Motors Kenya (formerly Toyota Kenya).

According to a notice published in local dailies, “the Official Receiver was appointed as liquidator of the property of D.T. Dobie & Company (Kenya) Limited following a special resolution dated June 3, 2025.”

Creditors have until September 15, 2025, to lodge claims by submitting a Proof of Debts (Form No. 5) via the eCitizen portal or directly to the liquidator. Those who fail to do so risk exclusion from any distributions made before their claims are verified.

Liquidation transfers control of a company’s affairs from directors to a liquidator, who takes charge of realizing assets, settling debts in order of priority, and closing the company once all obligations are met.
