Nairobi, other parts of Kenya hit with power outages

NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 30 – Nairobi and other parts of Kenya are experiencing blackouts, Kenya Power has announced.

The power loss has, however, not impacted areas of the North Rift and Western.

“We regret any inconvenience caused and urge for patience from our customers as we work towards restoring normalcy at the earliest opportunity,” the utility firm said in a statement.

“We will issue an update on the progress of the power restoration exercise as soon as possible.”

This is not the first time that Kenyans are being treated to a massive blackout after a similar cutout occurred in December last year.

The outage caused major disruptions in the manufacturing and aviation sectors as well as other areas of the economy due to shutdowns.
