NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 28 – Kajiado County is set to benefit from business opportunities after hosting this year’s Agro-Food Pack Expo.
The exhibition was jointly held by the Kenya National Chambers of Commerce & Industry—Kajiado Chapter (KNNCI-Kajiado Chapter) with MXM Exhibitors, a Dubai-based event firm.
Following the event, local farmers will access skills in technology, boosting inter-trade and enhancing the opening of business opportunities between Kenya and the other 20 countries in Europe and Asia.
The function, which attracted exhibitors from 11 countries globally, focused on Agro-Foodpack (agriculture, poultry, food processing, and plastic packaging).
“The exhibition has attracted exhibitors from 11 to 12 countries, and we are expecting visitors not only from Kenya but also from the surrounding countries,” said Mudasir Mohammud, Director, MXM Exhibition Limited.
Joseph Ntele, Chairman of the KNCCI-Kajiado Chapter, termed the collaboration an opportunity for Kajiado to reap big in the agricultural sector.
“Through investment and the collaboration, we have with MXM, we’re pretty sure that we will get things right in terms of agriculture, and more important, we are still looking forward to accommodating more partners, and signing more MOUs in both locally and internationally,” he said during the official launch of the 7th edition of the expo at the Sarit Centre in Nairobi.
Despite being ranked as one of the most affected counties by drought, Kajiado has always been doing well in the agricultural sector.
Due to the large tract of land that is rich in nutrients, the county has been able to produce tomatoes in large quantities for the last three years.
The devolved unt is also renown for its capacity to produce red meat, beef, among others.
As an outlay instrument, unlocking investment opportunities in Kajiado will further strengthen the business bond with other African countries.
“We are in the process of establishing special economic zones where we can get investors ready to invest, and in that dimension, we will be able to really define the agriculture sector in this country and in this continent where Kajiado connects with countries like South Africa, Malawi, Botswana, through the border of Namanga and Tarakeh,” Ntele added.
Japhet Ogutu, CEO of KNNCI-KajIado Chapter, said, “Kajiado County is one of the most preferred business hubs in connecting Kenya and Tanzania, and as a result, exhibitors have the opportunity to collaborate and partner with the Chamber of Commerce, because our doors are open…, at the same time, we have industrial parks that have been established in Kajado for business enhancement,” said.
