NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 13 – President Uhuru Kenyatta has said that Kenya will support Lesotho to reform its public service sector.

The President made the commitment when he met and held talks with Lesotho’s Public Service Minister Motloheloa Phooko who paid him a courtesy call at his Harambee House office, Nairobi.

Phooko is in the country to learn from reforms being implemented by the Government to improve service delivery.

He has visited Huduma Centers which have become a learning point for many African countries in enhancing public service delivery.

“It is an impressive initiative and we have learnt a lot for the time we have been here. It makes you feel what it means to be served by dedicated servants,” said Phooko.

President Kenyatta said Kenya is ready to share its experience in public service reforms with Lesotho and every other country that needs to learn from it.

“We will support you in your reform process and I hope this visit bears fruits,” said President Kenyatta.

He said Kenya’s doors are open to all those who seek to learn from its skills even as the Government continues to improve service delivery and implement more reforms.

Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru said the minister was also interested in the use of biometrics to manage the problem of ghost workers in the civil service.

She said Lesotho also wanted lessons in how the public sector can work systematically with private institutions.
