NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 18 – Ivy Wangechi, the medical student at Moi University who was hacked to death by her friend is set to be buried Thursday in Othaya, Nyeri.
Wangechi was a sixth-year student when she was allegedly killed by her childhood friend Naftali Kinuthia after she rejected his advances.
While appearing in court, the prosecution pleaded to hold him for 14 days pending investigation and compilation of his file.
The magistrate ordered that Kinuthia be held at Naiberi Police Station until when he will take plea.
He also ordered that he be taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment.
Wangechi was murdered at MTRH where she was on internship on Tuesday last week.
Naftali allegedly hacked her with an axe before slitting her throat in broad daylight in full view of the public.
He was later apprehended and mobbed before police arrived and rescued him from the irate crowd.
