NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept 26 – Schneider Electric Foundation has partnered with the Ministry of Education to equip six Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions with green energy technologies, boosting Kenya’s efforts to prepare youth for future jobs.
The institutions – Kabete, Kisumu, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Kiambu, and Eldoret national polytechnics – are now fitted with Hybrid Solar Home Systems and EVlink Pro Electric Vehicle Charging Systems to provide students with hands-on training in renewable energy and electric mobility.
The initiative is part of Schneider Electric’s global ambition to train one million people and 10,000 trainers in sustainable energy, with East Africa already recording 25,000 beneficiaries. In Kenya, the program targets to empower 14,000 students in the first phase.
A second phase will introduce Augmented Reality (AR) labs into the institutions, enabling learners to interact with live energy management systems while enhancing skills for global green job opportunities.
“This time, we are working with public TVET institutions, in partnership with the State Department, to empower an additional 14,000 students, with hands-on training in sustainable energy solutions,” Ifeanyi Odoh, Country President of Schneider Electric East Africa emphasized.
“These institutions now feature two innovative systems: the Hybrid Solar Home System, offering practical experience in solar energy integration, hybrid inverters, smart panels, and energy storage, and the EVlink Pro Electric Vehicle Charging System, preparing students for the future of electric mobility and sustainable transportation.”
