Bata Store looted in Pipeline as protests turn chaotic

NAIROBI, Kenya, June 24 — A Bata shoe store located along Outer Ring Road in Pipeline, Nairobi, was looted on Wednesday evening as protests erupted in the area.

Demonstrators broke into the store and made away with merchandise, including school shoes, worth thousands of shillings.

A spot check by Capital FM confirmed the incident, with looters seen carrying away various items.

The incident occurred after anti-riot police left the scene where protesters, mostly young people, had gathered to mark the first anniversary of demonstrations against last year’s Finance Bill, which was later dropped.
