NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 21 – Cold Solutions Kenya has achieved LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, becoming the first multipurpose temperature-controlled warehouse in Africa to receive this recognition.
The accolade underscores the company’s commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, setting a benchmark for cold storage technology in the region.
The certification, awarded after a thorough evaluation of Cold Solutions’ Nairobi facilities, highlights its efforts in energy efficiency, use of sustainable materials, and minimizing environmental impact.
“This certification not only enhances our operational credibility but also reflects our ongoing commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and environmental stewardship,” said Azhar Rifai, Co-head of Cold Chain Strategy at ARCH Emerging Partners, the investment firm backing Cold Solutions.
LEED certification is an internationally recognized system for assessing the sustainability of buildings, with Gold being the second-highest level.
Cold Solutions joins a select group of companies globally recognized for adhering to the highest standards of green building practices.
