NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 23 – Over 243,000 Kenyans have secured international job opportunities since September 2022, as part of the government’s efforts to expand labor mobility through the “Kazi Majuu” initiative.
Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura highlighted significant employment gains in key sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, and construction. In the last two months alone, 12,000 Kenyans have successfully found jobs overseas.
Mwaura noted that the government has finalized seven bilateral labor agreements with different countries, with two more pending signature.
Additionally, negotiations are underway with 13 other nations, potentially paving the way for up to 2 million Kenyans to secure jobs abroad once all agreements are concluded.

President William Ruto has made labor export a key focus of his administration, describing it as a strategy to create more economic opportunities for Kenyans.
Kenya already has labor agreements with countries like Germany and several Gulf nations.
The government remains committed to fostering partnerships with more countries, aiming to provide even greater economic opportunities for Kenyans and supporting its long-term vision for job creation abroad.
