New car sales in Russia surge 54pc in first 11 months

MOSCOW, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) — Russia’s new car market saw a remarkable 54-percent growth in the first 11 months of 2024, according to data released by the market analytic agency Autostat on Wednesday.

Between January and November, sales of new cars reached nearly 1.448 million units, marking a 54.1-percent year-on-year increase, the report noted.

In November alone, 121,884 new cars were sold, representing an 11.1-percent rise compared to the same period last year.

The statistics reveal that the local brand Lada maintained its leading position in the market, selling 37,900 vehicles in November, a 15.9-percent increase year-on-year.

Meanwhile, Chinese brands Haval and Chery closely followed, recording sales of 15,400 and 11,100 units, respectively, during the same month.

A previous Autostat report indicated that over 1.3 million new cars were sold in Russia in 2023, marking a 64-percent surge compared to 2022.
